Not every medication can be renewed through a refill appointment. The physician may recommend a longer appointment, monitoring, investigations or an in-person assessment before prescribing.

No. Prescription decisions depend on the physician's assessment, the medication, the condition being treated and whether appropriate monitoring is available.
Are benzodiazepines or opioids available through this refill service?
No. This medication-refill pathway is not suitable for benzodiazepine or opioid medication requests.
Is a prescription guaranteed if I book?
No. The appointment is a physician review. A prescription is issued only when the physician determines that it is medically appropriate.
Can my prescription be sent to my usual pharmacy?
Where a prescription is issued, it can generally be sent to the pharmacy indicated by the patient.
What if I need bloodwork or monitoring first?
The physician will explain what monitoring or follow-up is required before or alongside treatment, where appropriate.
What if my medication is not working anymore?
A standard refill may not be the best appointment type. A more comprehensive medical review may be recommended.
Can I use this service anywhere in Alberta?
Virtual appointments are available across Alberta, subject to clinical and eligibility requirements.
