A physician may be able to provide a doctor's note after assessing your situation, when a note is clinically appropriate and the physician has enough information to support it.
What a note may address
Depending on the situation, documentation may address an assessed period of illness, functional limitations, or a return-to-work or school recommendation. The content should reflect the clinical assessment and the purpose of the request.
A note is not guaranteed
Booking an appointment does not guarantee a note, a specific wording, a backdated document, or a particular number of days away from work or school. The physician decides what documentation is appropriate.
When in-person care may be needed
